Meet The Cats Who Own Me
Sheena 1989 -- 11/8/2005 R.I.P
Sheena was my oldest cat whom I adopted in 1989 outside of a pound in Maryland.
I was at the pound to adopt a cat and after I had already selected one, I was greeted by someone when I was in my car asking me to please take one as the pound would not accept her kittens for some reason I don't remember.
Well, the cat I adopted did not work out as it liked to pee everywere and I had to find it a new home, but sheena was happily with me for many years.
Before I could get her fixed she managed to get pregnant. I got to watch her kittens being born. It was an amazing thing to watch. I wanted to keep every kitten but them seemed to be driving her crazy so one by one I found them a home. To this day I regret not keeping at least one of them.
Sheena loved to wake me by baping my face in request of some scratching or to get under the covers if its cold. She also tended to snore which was quite cute.
For some odd reason (you figure it out) since having kittens she hates all male cats.
She was a great cat whom I will miss dearly.
Devo
Devo was found by a neigbor in a dumpster along with his brother who did not survive the dumpster. I cannot fathom how someone could be so cruel and heartless. It makes me sad everytime I think about it.
Devo was adopted in Sept 1994. Devo is one great cat, altho sometimes he thinks he's a dog. He loves to go for walks on a leash now and he very often demands water from the sink.
When I adopted him I was having lots of parties so he became very used to people and will walk right up to anyone in hopes of petting, scratching and attention. He's rather stocky which is a wonderfull for sheena as she can jump up to places to get away from him.
If you like um big and stupid.. Devo's you man.. err cat.
Sir Robin AKA Periscope and Scamper
Robin was an answer to my desire to adopt another kitten after loosing one to a relationship breakup (it was her cat) and I liked having 3 cats and felt that Devo would really like someone to play with as he tends to be rather playful and energetic.
I was at my vets when I asked if they knew of any kittens for adoption. It seems my Vet
( The Campbel Cat Hospital ) does some great work with helping to care for captured Feral kittens brought in looking for a home and being "fixed"
Robin was adopted at abt 8 weeks old in March 2001 and was so named becouse being feral he was very skiddish and still is around anyone but me. I have been working at home since I got him so I was able to give him lots of love and attention to earn his trust. Since then he has been a great kitten / cat. He is loving and effectionate and oh so funny at times.
Robin is now a little older and is in that puberty phase. Even though he is fixed he will still try to hump things and will chase Sheena around.(much to her horror) The odd times he does manage to grab her he then looks curious as to what to do next. Sounds like most pubecient males :)
Freya AKA Fat Stuff and Fat Boy
I keep a basket outside my door with a towl in it for cats when it gets cold. I have only ever seen it used once and it was by poor Freya. He was a skinny little thing then and had apparantly just been in a fight and had been bitten pretty good on the neck. I petted him and he seemed so nice and when i noticed he was injured I brought him in and treated him. He didn't have a collar. I noticed that he also had no claws on any paws and had only a few teeth. I decided that this was no cat to be outside so I adopted him. Or did he adopt me?
I gave him lots of love and attention and I think a little too much food. he is currently 19 pounds and I have him on a diet by making the other cats jump up higher than he can for their food and I regulate what he gets.
Freya and Robin have become buddies and they love to play. Sometimes too much and sometimes on the bed at my/our feet at night. When he curls up next to you its not so easy to move. I had to break him from sleeping on my back at night as I was waking up with a sore back!
